Gone But Not Forgotten Guest Forum-NEW! Newest Collection Additions Telecasters The Squier Army NEW! Vintage Fender Amps Viewer Comments Store-Fenders FOR SALE! Hi there and welcome! My name is Joe and this is a website dedicated to my modest collection of Fender electric guitars. I’ve played and collected Fenders as a hobby for over 20 years and decided it would be a fun project to create a site to showcase these instruments. While most of my collection began with "modern" Stratocasters, I have since taken interest in 1960’s vintage Fender "offset waist" short-scale guitars, including Jaguars, Mustangs, Duosonics, and Musicmasters, most of which are featured on the pages here. I’m always on the hunt for the next neat piece to add to my collection, and love to hear from other collectors, players, and enthusiasts. Please take a look around, and feel free to e-mail me with any questions or comments. I’ve also recently added a small message/chat forum that I encourage you to join. It’s totally free, and will hopefully be another place you frequent to discuss Fender guitars, both vintage and modern. As with the rest of the site, it’s a work in progess, and will continue to be updated and modified on a regular basis. Hope you enjoy! -JB I have had many requests to purchase guitars from my collection, so while some remain "Not for sale", I have decided to price a few. Prices do not include shipping. Message me through the contact form for further details. Thanks and enjoy looking! ***Be sure to click on any photo to enlarge. Also check out each "clickable" sub-topic listed at the top of this page. Vintage Jaguars 1964 Fender Jaguar 1964 ’Custom Coral’ Jaguar This was the first vintage Fender I ever bought, and the one that hooked me! I was actually browsing a new guitar shop in my town on opening day, and spotted this coral beauty hanging on the wall among several sunburst Jaguars and Jazzmasters. I’m not sure how many of them were vintage and how many were reissues, I just know this one jumped out at me. I had never owned a true "vintage" instrument, and when I saw this I KNEW I wanted it badly! I didn’t buy it that day, but went home and stewed over it for awhile. I began to research these guitars, and immediately gained some useful insight and advise from the folks at offsetguitars.com , and highly recommend this site to anyone even remotely interested in Fender Jaguars, Jazzmasters, Mustangs, Duo-Sonics, Musicmasters, etc. Back to the Jaguar... it’s a very old refin, probably done when the guitar was only a few years old. The nitro lacquer has all of the shrinking, weatherchecking, and chipping of many years of use, although it’s still in exceptional overal condition, with a ton of appeal. While all of the electronics are original, it did once have a 3rd pickup installed. The original 2 pickup configuration was restored, but the route for the 3rd pickup remains, albeit hidden under the reissue pickguard. Oh, and the color... it’s what I would call Coral or Salmon, some even believe it resembles a very faded Fiesta Red (just don’t call it pink!) and while it’s not the original color, I think it suits the Jaguar body perfectly. The neck still retains 100% of its original finish, and is one of the best feeling pieces of maple I’ve ever played. The heel date is actually DEC ’63, but the pots date to early 1964. The original Fender case is a rare ’63/’64 blonde tolex, and compliments the guitar nicely. While it’s admittedly not 100% original, it’s still a cool vintage Fender, and remains one of my favorite guitars. 1966 Fender Jaguar 1966 ’Foam Green’ Jaguar Up next is my second vintage purchase, and another 60’s Jaguar. I must admit I never expected to buy another one of these so soon after my first, but I loved my Coral Jag so much that I couldn’t help myself but to browse for other vintage examples out there. Perhaps my all time favorite color combination, this is an original 1966 "Custom Color" Jaguar, finished in Foam Green with matching headstock. This one has 100% original components, including the pickguard, pots, wiring, pickups, "F" tuners, etc. There are also some neat late 65/early 66-only features, including the white neck binding with white pearl dots and side markers. by mid 1966 all Jaguar necks featured large "block" inlays, making the dots/binding combination somewhat of a rarity. I personally think it’s the most attractive neck/fretboard combination for a Jaguar. I recently bought a Mastery Bridge for this one and it plays like a dream. To be honest though, this one originally earned its place in my collection on looks alone! 1965 Fender Jaguar 1965 ’Sunburst’ Jaguar Next up is yet another vintage Jag. This one is probably the cleanest, most original Jaguar in my collection, and I feel very fortunate to have been able to pick this one up. This is a true time capsule, purchased from the son of the original owner. This is a pre-CBS "L-series" Jaguar, and it has NEVER been apart. Every screw, pot, pickup, etc. is 100% untouched and original. The finish is very clean, with only some very slight playwear. I found this by accident, and wasn’t even in the market for another Jaguar, but it was just too pretty to pass up. I’ll be honest, I’m generally more attracted to the "custom color" instruments, but this one just had such a nice burst, and was so clean I couldn’t resist it! The original "Fender-Mute" is in place, and although the 45 year old foam strip has since dried out, it still functions as it should. This is the best playing and feeling Jag I have. I know everyone likes to see neck date stamps, pot codes, etc., but there’s just something about an untouched original piece, and I have no interest or desire to ever take this one apart to determine exact date it was made. The serial number and features date it to early 1965, and that’s good enough for me! 1965(Late)Fender Jaguar 1965 ’Firemist Gold’ Jaguar This one was the latest Jaguar to make her way into my little collection of vintage instruments. As with the Foam Green ’66 above, this one initially struck me simply based on it’s color. "Firemist Gold" was a pretty rare custom color offered by Fender in 1965, and while I wish I could say this one is 100% original, it’s not...it was refinished several years ago. The good news is that because it’s a refin, it was at least "sort of" affordable. I originally saw this listed for sale on surfguitar101.com, a site I admittedly don’t frequent, but happened upon it one late evening when I was browsing the ’net. I was immediately smitten by the rare color, and learned this guitar had quite a story behind it. As it turns out, this Jaguar was formerly owned by the guitarist from the Colorado based surf band called " The Aquasonics". While the band may not be widely known yet, they seem to cause quite a stir in their home state of Colorado. Who’d have guessed one of the biggest "up and coming" surf bands would be based in the Rocky Mountains?! In any case, I had a good feeling the guitar would be a nice player, based on the idea it was used to record several albums and played live by a professional musician. When I first got this it was set up for flat-wound .012 gauge strings, and while I gave it my best try, I couldn’t warm up to the feel of it. I set it up with a little higher action, took the shim out of the neck, and put a set of .011 round-wound strings on it, now it’s more to my liking. Aside from the refinish (which is a very high quality job!) this one is mostly original, with a few odd replacement bits including the tuners, pickguard, and tremolo arm. I love the color, and it makes a nice partner to my Foam Green ’66, with the same rare "dots & binding" neck/fretboard combo. 1965 Inca Silver Pre-CBS Jaguar 1965 Jaguar in Inca...
